Ivy Topiaries at Carol Watson Greenhouse

Ivy topiaries are a fun and easy project to do on your own or with the kids. They also make a great homemade gift.

Carol has a great selection of wire topiary frames and ivy plants that are easily trained to climb.

Instructions:
1. Select a great pot and topiary frame.
2. Add drainage (old broken clay should always be saved for planting, small stones work well also).
3. Add soil and your Ivy plant.
4. Insert the prongs from the topiary frame thru the plant down into the soil. Gently push past the roots of the plant. Carefully begin to wind the Ivy slowly around the frame; you should be able to twist the Ivy around letting the leaves interlock to stay in place.

When you are finished give your masterpiece a drink of water and place it in a nicely lit room with indirect sunlight. Ivy likes cool weather so if you are saving on the heat bill Ivy will be happy.

We have many great projects at the greenhouse, so stop in and take a look around or check out our class listing online to get some ideas for great gifts for the holiday season.

That’s all for this week from the Garden Trail with Terry.
